Key Components
Throwing Sessions - 2x/week :
- Mechanical Development
- Focused on refining mechanics through video analysis and individualized corrective drills.
- Each pitcher has unique physical characteristics, strengths and weaknesses.
- Correctives should target the underlying issues causing mechanical problems, not just the symptoms.
- By tailoring exercises and drills to specific needs, pitchers can improve their mechanics more efficiently and effectively, leading to higher velocity and better performance.
- Incorporates pre- and post-throwing arm care routines.
- Focused on refining mechanics through video analysis and individualized corrective drills.
- Technological Analysis:
- Utilizes Rapsodo, Pitch Logic, and SensorEdge to gather data on pitch velocity, movement, and release mechanics.
- Provides valuable insights for making adjustments and optimizing performance.
- Pitch Design:
- Works on developing a variety of pitches with effective movement and command.
- Focuses on understanding pitch tendencies and count situations.
Strength Training Sessions - 2x/week :
- Goals
- Develop explosive power in the legs for better drive off the mound.
- Strengthen the core to stabilize the body throughout the pitching motion.
- Build shoulder and arm strength for improved pitch velocity and durability.
- Address any muscle imbalances to reduce the risk of injury.
- Full body performance analysis: Utilizing the Proteus System to track power, acceleration, deceleration, and velocity
- Lower Body Strength: Squats, deadlifts, and lunges to enhance leg drive.
- Core Stability: Rotational exercises (Russian twists, Pallof presses) and anti-rotation movements to create a stable foundation for pitching.
- Upper Body and Shoulder Health: Targeted exercises like shoulder presses, rotator cuff strengthening (internal/external rotations), and rows to maintain arm health and throwing endurance.
- Power Development: Plyometrics and explosive movements such as box jumps and med ball throws to increase athleticism and transfer energy effectively into the pitch.
Benefits
