North Hunterdon Triumphs over Hillsborough to take Group 4 State Title

North Hunterdon Softball defeats Hillsborough High School by the score of 6-4 over the weekend to take the NJSIAA Group 4 State Championship. Some of Zoned Sports very own took the field in Alyssa Vandaveer of Hillsborough and Carly Severini of North Hunterdon. Severini got the scoring started for North Hunterdon early knocking in a pair with a Double in the gap setting the tone for the next 6 innings. Severini would finish the game 1-4 with 2 RBI while Vandaveer finished 1-4 as well. Zoned would like to send a congratulations to North Hunterdon on their State Championship and to Hillsborough on what was nothing short of a great season as well.

13U Win Second Consecutive USABL Championship in Sweeping Fashion

The Zoned Redhawks 13U took their second consecutive USABL title over the weekend defeating the Out of the Park Cyclones twice by the scores of SCORE and 15-5. The Redhawks mustard 26 hits, 17 walks while only striking out 7 times in their 2 championship games. Our bats and approach at the plate got us the 10 run rule for both games to win first place. Our pitching was sold allowing only 4 hits in each game. In both games the Redhawks got out in front early and never trailed once in route to back to back 13U Division Championships. Coach Frank had this to add after the weekend, “The boys played great. It seemed like there was never a chance we were going to lose. Each guy played and did their part to help win”. Coach Frank and the 13U’s take the field again this weekend when they compete in the ECTB Summer Tournament.

14U Redhawks Continue Push for USABL Title

This coming weekend, both Zoned Redhawks 14U teams compete for a birth in the USABL title game. The Zoned Red team will play its Quarterfinal game on Saturday at 3:30 against the Union County Seminoles. A win on Saturday would put them into the Semi-Finals at 12pm Sunday against Hillsborough Gold. The Zoned Black team earned the number 1 seed in the playoffs and will have a first round by Saturday and play the winner of NJ Shamrocks and CJ Stampede Sunday, 10am at Sabatino Field. Good luck to both of our 14U teams.

15U Opening Weekend in Review

The Redhawks were tested early and often at the Perfect Game Super 25 tournament in Philadelphia over the weekend, falling behind in each of the 3 games they played. However, the 15’s took the adversity by storm battling back to go 1-0-1 on Saturday giving them a berth in the PG25 quarterfinals. After falling behind early in the playoff game the Redhawks eventually fell on Sunday against the top team in the tournament, the Batting 1.000 Heat (NY), and eventual tournament Champions. The 15U Redhawks return to action this weekend in Staten Island at the RCBC Championships. Dates and Time to be determined, please check the website for more updated information.

Telling weekend stat: 2-6 hitters went 4-43 .093avg, 7-1 hitters went 17-40 .425avg with 3rbi & 7RS

Pitchers weekend line: (1-1-1) 20IP, 4.50ERA, 21H (19 singles), 14 K’s, 9BB, 2HBP, 4 of 11 guys we put on came around to score.

Weekend Warrior: Tyler Rudy, caught all 3 games, while hitting .333

Player of the Tourney: Matt Murdock, hit .400 with a 3B, 3RBI’s, while going 1-0 in 3.1in of relief

Big 3 (Self-proclaimed): Brian Cooper .500, Ed Foley .625, Tyler Rudy .333 accounted for 11 of the teams 21 hits on the weekend and scored 5 of the teams 8 runs
