The 2016 season looks bright for the Drew University Program and the Rangers will be led by two returning All Landmark Conference Players, outfielder Mike Di’Donato and catcher Mike Miragia. Di’Donato hit .391 in 2015 with 5 2B, 16RBI and Miragia finished with a .376 avg. 9 2B and 18 RBI. Di’Donato and Miragia will look for leadership help from Seniors Anthony Feltre, Bobby Miskura, Dylan Baxter and Gary Clare.

The program is excited to build off of a 13-23 season in 2015. Recently, the team revealed its 2016 schedule with the first pitch scheduled at Stevens Institute of Technology for the second straight year. The season-opening tilt is scheduled for Feb. 28, with Drew’s first home game coming two weeks later against St. Joseph’s College at Doc Young Field on March 16.

In between the inaugural non-conference games will be a weeklong trip down to Ft. Pierce, Florida that has the Rangers prepping in the sunshine for the long season. The Rangers will play a slate of games at the Florida Golf Coast Spring Training complex before heading back North on March 14.

The team has non-conference road contests scheduled against William Paterson University (March 2), Ramapo College (March 22), Rutgers-Newark (March 29), Franklin & Marshall College (March 30), Keystone College (April 13), College of Staten Island (April 19), and Salisbury University (April 28).

Following the home opener, the Rangers jump into conference action when they head to Selinsgrove, Pa. to take on Susquehanna University in a three-game series starting March 19. The Rangers opened the 2015 conference season with a clean sweep of Susquehanna last year, winning their first two contests 1-0 and 6-2.

The Rangers return home briefly after that four-game road trip to take on New Jersey City University in a non-conference tilt on March 24 with first pitch scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

The Rangers will travel for three other conference series on the year against U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (March 25-26), Moravian College (April 9-10), and The Catholic University of America (April 16-17).

The Rangers’ first home conference series comes on April 2 against Juniata College. That series jumpstarts an eight-game road trip featuring six conference matchups.

Coming off the long road trip will be two pivotal home stands to close out the season. Following the April 20 Battle of Madison Avenue with FDU-Florham, The Rangers host Elizabethtown College at Doc Young Field for a three-game series and close out the year with another three-gamer at home against The University of Scranton. The tables will have been turned to end the season, as last year, Drew squared off against Scranton on their home field with Landmark Conference playoff berths on the line.

The coaching staff and players are excited to get back on the field with the first day of practice February 8th in preparation for opening day March 2nd.
